Welcome to the JAK Photo blog!

So, if you've landed here by direct means, you might be wondering who I am and why I'm rambling on about professional practice in photography.

All will be revealed.

My name is Joseph Allen-Keys (as you can see from the web address.) This blog is called JAKphoto and directly links to my YouTube channel of the same name. I began this channel to fill what i've perceived as a gap in information across the general YouTube content for photography vlogging and shows. There's a lot out there if you need gear reviews, technical information, on location vlogs and experience guides but a dark art seems to be avoided and that's how to become and manage yourself as a professional photographer; what you might need to expect, anticipate and prepare for to make a living from photography and not just enjoy or be good at it.

But who the hell am I to give advice on this? Well, i'm a full time photographer for for a creative agency here in the UK (DRPG). My whole job is photography, whether that's taking photographs for various forms of commision to sourcing photographers to do the same or consulting on photographic assets and briefing. I've experienced an inside view of the industry that creates employment for photographers in the commercial and corporate field and I want to share this experience with you. out there - from beginner to long time pro - I hope to reveal things that you can apply to your day to day and progress your vision of photography.

Most of all, it's free. I'm not that guy that pops up while you're trying to watch another video and says "Hey! You can make money!" The first thing you can do to make money is save it by not buying tutorials. I believe information is a free right because nothing is really a secret. You just have to learn that this business is like any other and you will get out of it what you put in.

So, I invite you to take a look around my website and portfolios - make sure you feel I'm a guy you can trust!

Thanks for joining me, I hope you enjoy!
